Why alpha Kappa Delta Phi?
“I was in search of a sense of belonging after growing up in an environment with a low Asian population where I didn’t feel I could be my authentic self. As someone of both Filipino and Peruvian descent, navigating my identity was challenging, and I spent years suppressing my Filipino heritage before learning to embrace both sides of who I am. When I found aKDPhi, I connected with sisters who shared similar experiences, which inspired me to fully engage in the community. I hope to build meaningful connections while giving back through service and academic excellence.”

I grew up as a first-generation Vietnamese-American feeling disconnected from my culture and lacking a space to explore my identity. aKDPhi’s core values of compassion & authenticity strongly align with my vision and personal goals. Through aKDPhi, I hope to further embrace my heritage while continuing to build a community where women can connect, grow, and uplift one another.

“I chose alpha Kappa Delta Phi because of the balance it creates between empowerment, cultural awareness, and genuine sisterhood. I admire how the organization brings together driven women who support each other’s growth while staying committed to service and community impact. As someone involved in leadership and creative roles, I value spaces that encourage both individuality and collaboration. I also appreciate aKDPhi’s dedication to giving back, which aligns with my passion for healthcare and serving others. Overall, being a part of a sorority that feels genuine, motivating, and impactful, is important to me, and aKDPhi embodies those qualities.”
